Weekend of 'Firsts'...
Adlee had a big weekend! We took her to a LOT of new places! She loves being out & about…whew! Thursday: First trip to Beer Run First photo shoot! Friday: First Fridays After Five First trip to X Lounge to meet Francois. He even brought her a drink of her own…a shot of water! Sleeping in on Saturday: Hanging out with daddy: Sunday: First overnight trip to...
One Month Old!
Adlee was one month old on July 9th…time flies! She was a little grumpy during our photo shoot that morning! Our 2 year anniversary was on the same day so we had fish tacos and champagne at home to celebrate! The next night, ‘Grammy & Gramps’ watched Adlee while we went out to dinner to celebrate again!
First Fourth of July
We kicked off the 4th of July the night before with a party at Relay Foods (Chris’ work). Adlee slept through most of the party but when a couple of the guys started playing guitars & banjos she woke up and LOVED it! Looks like we will have to take her to see lots of live music! On the 4th I made a red, white & blue breakfast while Adlee slept in her ‘first 4th’...
Adlee's First Babysitters & Brewery Tour
It was a busy weekend for the Bullards! Chris was a groomsman in Brady & Sarah’s wedding at Ashlawn on Saturday so we left Adlee with my parents for the first time on Saturday night. She did great and we had so much fun at the wedding. Congrats Mr. and Mrs. Kirby!! I had my first glass of wine…I was so excited I had to take a picture of it! On Sunday, Chris spent some...
The First 3 Weeks
At the hospital: Going home!! This is the blanket that me, my mom, aunt Beckie, uncle Woody and all of my cousins went home from the hospital in! Checking out the backyard. Chris picked her ‘locally grown’ going home outfit. Meeting her sisters- Scout & Ellie She LOVES to be swaddled! Doesn’t she look like a burrito? Father’s Day! Yep, she’s...
Happy Birthday Adlee!!
I meant to post at 40 weeks pregnant but I guess I never got around to it because here we are almost a month after Adlee was born and I’m just getting around to posting again. I didn’t plan to do a ‘baby blog’ but I’ve been looking at all of these sweet pictures we’ve been taking of her and I decided that I’ll add to this ‘journal’ as often as...
Thelma & Louise
30 weeks..whoa! I just can’t believe we only have 10 weeks to go! Last week was a VERY busy one so I decided to do a lot of relaxing this past weekend. It was nice to spend some time at home with the doggies, chickens and Chris…and, I didn’t touch my computer at all until Sunday night. We spent a lot of time outside and my parents came over for dinner and to see Baby B’s...
Baby B Progress!
Well, here we are at 29 weeks and it was a very productive weekend around here! Yeah, it’s pretty early but we have a VERY busy Spring so I wanted to get a head start. Saturday morning I unpacked the smaller stuff that we already have for the nursery and it is looking so cute! I still want to do a couple of decorating projects but here is a little tour of the nursery so far! I LOVE the...
Future JMU Duke!
Once again it’s been a while since I’ve blogged! It seems like time is just flying by…I am already 25 weeks pregnant. How is that possible!?!? I am feeling really good and the doctor says everything is looking great! We had the big ultrasound a few weeks ago and managed to get through it without finding out whether Baby B will be a boy or girl! We really do want it to be a...
Big, Big, Weekend
I thought January was going to be a quiet month but it was another crazy weekend! On Friday, my Grandly moved into to a nursing home. I was very sad that she needed to go there but she joked that maybe she’ll meet a boyfriend :) and it sounds like she’s actually enjoying all of the activities that they offer, and the food! I am looking forward to going to see her this week. The Big...
Bend & Bennie-Fit
Tonight I went to my second yoga class at Bend Yoga- where yogi’s are born :) I really enjoyed it but also learned that my arms have gotten pretty weak. It was definitely motivation to keep doing yoga and to get back to the gym. I’m planning to go to the ‘Mamaste’ class every Thursday and hopefully most Saturdays too. If you’re having a baby or already have one,...
It’s been a busy, but great, couple of weeks! We were in Vermont for about a week at Christmas and had such a great time! We got to spend a lot of time with everyone and it was really fun to see all of the nieces & nephews enjoy Christmas! It’s still really strange to me that I have such a large family now! I went from being an only child to having 9 siblings on Chris’ side...
Back To The Blog
Well, as most of you know, 2012 is going to be an exciting year! We recently found out that we’re having a baby and he or she is due around June 6, 2012. I think this is good enough reason to get back to blogging so we can keep everyone updated easily. So far I just know that I’m feeling a lot better (finally), I am terrified of those maternity jeans with the big stretchy front panel...
Home Sweet Home
Wow! Has it really been a month since I’ve blogged! It’s been a busy one for sure! In case I missed some of July we filled our weekends with Dani & Bob’s Wedding, a trip to VT before Gary moved to Germany, a trip to VA Beach & then we moved! Whew…makes me tired just thinking about it all but it was a great time! We’ve been in the new place for 2 weeks today...
A lot happened since I last wrote! On Saturday I took a road trip to DC with Darcey to watch our friend Brian compete in the Metro Dash obstacle course. It was HOT but he did great and it was fun to watch! Once he was done we went down to National Harbor for a bit. We also got to grab a quick lunch with our JMU buddy, Danielle! We got to play in the sand a bit around this cool statue too! ...
Happy Anniversary, Chris!!!
One year ago today, Chris and I had a BBQ at our house and surprised everyone by getting married! What a great day! Unfortunately we were only married for 6 days before he headed back to Afghanistan. VERY thankful that isn’t the case this year! Happy Anniversary, Chris! I love you :) I guess you could say we started celebrating last night at Fridays After Five where The Dickens (our...
I just realized that I haven’t blogged in a while! We did finish two weeks of clean just in time for Dani & Bob’s wedding. What a fun weekend! The wedding events were SO much fun, we got to spend lots of time with Nick, Maggie and Chase (the cutest little nephew in the world) and I now have 9 brothers & sisters. Whew…what a weekend! :) Photos coming soon… We did...
Clean: Weekend Style
We gave ourselves a little room to ‘cheat’ this weekend which was part of the plan. We don’t want to be too strict otherwise these great habits won’t stick. We didn’t end up going to the beer fest after all so we had lunch at the Whole Foods ‘pub’ on Saturday (sushi for me and a veggie pizza for Chris) along with a beer. We were laughing about what we...
Clean: Days 4 & 5
I didn’t get to blog yesterday but we are still ‘clean’. I’m not sure what the difference is this time but I’m still feeling really low energy so I think I’ll add in more protein over the weekend so see if that helps. Yesterday we did our smoothie breakfast and since I was in between meetings I grabbed a bowl of hummus and some veggies at Cville Coffee. Not...
Clean: Day 3
It’s Day 3 and I have to admit that I am tired! I checked out my blog from the first round of clean and I was starting to have lots of energy by Day 3. But, reading it also reminded me that I hadn’t incorporated any exercise yet. Today Darcey and I walked the Monticello Trail (about 3 miles) in the heat so I think that may explain it. I just made sure to drink plenty of water all...
Clean: Day 2
We’re still at it…today actually wasn’t bad at all but that was mainly because I was super busy and didn’t have much time to think about it! Breakfast was another favorite smoothie: Fresh blueberries, carob (tastes like chocolate!) and almond milk. I had actually been looking forward to lunch since we decided to do this again. It was the ‘salad trio’ of...
When we did 3 weeks of Clean eating in January, we decided that we would do it again in ‘about 6 months’. Well, the time is here and today is officially Day #1! We did a modified ‘clean’ before the wedding but this time we’re getting serious…again. I’m sure reading about what we eat (and don’t eat) isn’t the most exciting for others but it...
Keep Calm And Eat A Cupcake
I have been waiting until I have photos to feature each member of ‘team amazing wedding’ here. Well, I have some of the cupcakes and since I don’t see anything wrong with having dessert first, here we go: Chris loves cupcakes and the Boston Red Sox so we decided to combine the two for the big day. I was cool with the Boston ‘B’ all along but once I realized that it...
Whole Foods Heaven
Today I had a meeting on 29 so I decided to make my first visit to the new Whole Foods Cville. WOW…it’s awesome. I walked around like a kid in a candy store for about 15 minutes, trying to check out every single thing, before I finally picked up some sushi for lunch and the latest edition of Clean Eating magazine and got out of there before more expensive damage was done! As I sat at a...
Back To The Belt
Last year I decided that I was going to needlepoint Chris a belt for a wedding present. I’d never done needlepoint before but I had done some cross stitch so I didn’t think it would be that hard. It wasn’t, and I actually really liked it but with Chris coming home and then the wedding I quickly decided that it would have to be a one year anniversary present! Well, our...
Thank You Ian's Creations!
Another fun weekend! Friday night we went to Fridays After Five where we saw Love Canon (80’s bluegrass! Think Michael Jackson on a Banjo. Awesome.) and a bunch of friends. On Saturday, we had planned to go to the Graves Mountain Bluegrass Festival but wanted to stay closer to home so we decided to check out Bandfair at Cardinal Point Vineyards after seeing it on Facebook. It was...
Thank You, Alice!
Okay, I am never going shopping for groceries or ‘household essentials’ again! It’s no secret that I love Relay Foods (and they were recently featured on Forbes.com, by the way!) but now I have another love…Alice! Chris sent me this website a couple of weeks ago and since we were out of every single thing that you need daily (shampoo, conditioner, paper towels, etc.) I...
Happy Birthday Chris!
Chris’ birthday is tomorrow and it being Memorial Day weekend is a great reminder of how nice it is to have him home this year! Last year, my mom and I visited Vermont on this weekend and I remember thinking that we still had a looong way to go until deployment was over! So, to celebrate both things, I decided to surprise Chris with a mini-vacation. I had been looking for somewhere fairly...
Feeling Blue (and purple, and green)
On Friday I got to do one of my favorite things…a photo shoot. BIG thanks to: Jenn at Sugar Magnolias and Kathryn at Festive Fare for helping put together this look for Blue Mountain Brewery. Our models, JJ, Helen and Nick. And, Tom Daly for taking these great shots of it all!
Happy Birthday Ellie!
What a beautiful weekend in C-ville! We started out with dinner at ‘Bob’s Farm’ on Friday…always a great time! On Saturday, I went to watch my cousin Madi play softball and Ellie came home from her grandparents just in time for her birthday today! After some errands, we had dinner at the park by our house. Today, Darcey and I had a Starbucks date and then it was time for...
Happy Birthday Ellie!
Sometimes, eating 'bad' is worth it!
Okay, so this one isn’t from Leila’s cookbook but I did make a recipe that I found in Clean Eating Magazine yesterday…it was great and simple so I thought I’d share. I can’t find it online and don’t want to type the entire thing so I’ll shorten it a bit. Eggplant Parmesan Quesadilla (okay, it was really supposed to be a panini but the wraps that we got...
Chase + Edie
Wow, this weather is crazy today! I was supposed to do some errands on my ‘lunch break’ but decided to stay dry instead. So, I’ve given the blog a Summer makeover and I just couldn’t resist sharing these two photos from the wedding. Chase (our nephew and ring bearer) and Edie (our flower girl) were SO adorable! Chase kept saying ‘hold my hand’ and Edie kept...
It’s no big secret that I’m not a great cook. Well, I should say that I usually CAN cook…I just don’t! So, it’s fitting that my best friend, Leila, who lives in Australia gave us a great cookbook as a wedding gift and it came with a challenge…”you better have made at least 10 of these recipes before I get back in December”. I should note that I...
I kept most of our wedding plans a ‘secret’ up until the big day so there would be some element of surprise for our guests! So, now I’ll share a little something each day. Feel free to ‘steal’ any ideas that were mine. But, if they are from one of our super-talented vendors, please give them credit. First up…I came across these napkins online and just...
Get Click HERE to get $50 in LOCAL groceries for... →
I know, I can’t stop going on about Relay Foods. It’s not even because Chris (my husband) works there but because it’s just a great concept. I never loved the grocery store and the time it wasted and now I don’t have to go at all. And, even better, we can support local farms and businesses at the same time! Check out today’s Richmond Groupon. You pay $25 but get...
It's Like Raaaiiiin on Your Wedding Day!
I’ve been stressing about wedding weather since about 2004. Not my own, of course, but all of the other brides & grooms that I’ve worked with over the years. It wasn’t actually about them though. Obviously I didn’t want it to rain on anyone’s wedding but in my mind it was more about logistics…do we need to add a tent? what about sides and heaters? where...
News: Blue Mountain Brewery Events!
Maybe it was planning our wedding or just that it’s been over a year since I was an ‘event planner’ but I kinda started to miss doing events recently. So, when Blue Mountain Brewery (one of my very favorite places!!) said they were planning to do private events starting in October 2011, I pretty much begged them to let me help. For now, I’ll be working with them on a...
Wow, I don’t think Chris and I will ever be able to thank our family, friends and the c-ville event world enough for the PERFECT wedding weekend! It was everything that we imagined and a whole lot more. We are so lucky to be surrounded by such amazing people and LOVED having everyone ‘under one tent’ this weekend. Once we have photos, I plan on doing posts about everyone who...
What a week!! Work was crazy for both of us, I had a minor car accident meaning that I’m without a car for 8-10 days (but getting a rental tomorrow!), Scout had to get fixed, the Emma award entries were due and of course I wanted until the last minute. So, needless to say, I don’t remember eating much less having time to blog about it! The weekend was much more fun and very...
Clean: Day 2
Well, Clean is harder this time around for sure! I think it’s because we know how to ‘cook clean’ now so don’t feel the need to follow the plan exactly. That makes it much easier to stray. I still did pretty well today (certainly not terrible!) but it’s not as new & exciting as it was the first time! Here is what I ate today: Breakfast: A ‘Green...
It's CLEAN time again...
What a great weekend in Vermont! It was fun to see everyone there (and to hear funny stories about Chris in his absence) even if it was COLD!I will post some photos as soon as I get them from my mom. Thanks so much to all of the Vermonters for everything!! Can’t wait to see you all in May & July! It’s a beautiful Monday in VA but unfortunately it’s back to work! Things are...
It's a 'Long Trail' to Vermont!
My mom and I are in Vermont for my bridal shower on Saturday. After a long day in the car, I finally got a Long Trail Ale. But don’t worry Virginia! I followed it with a glass of Barboursville Chardonnay!
Bachelorette & Buffalo
Well, it’s already been another crazy week! I guess that will be ‘normal’ until wedding time!! I had SUCH a great time this past weekend hanging out with my girlfriends for my bachelorette weekend! Let’s see…what did we not do?? We hung out at Darcey’s farm on Friday night and had a slumber party. Margaritas and Sex and the City- love it! On Saturday we cooked...
Whoa…I really can’t believe that our wedding weekend is ONE month away!! I remember when Chris and I first sat down at the bar at Cheeseburger in Paradise to talk about what we wanted it to be. We basically planned the whole thing on a napkin. Not what you would expect from an event planner, huh!? Since then, Chris spent a year in Afghanistan, I started a business, we got puppy #2...
Last night Chris made one of the recipes that we found in Clean Eating Magazine (a great option for recipe ideas, by the way!) for Thai Green Chicken Curry. I felt like we had gone to a Thai restaurant- amazing what you can cook when you know how! The magazine also featured an article on Thai food in general and how it’s famous for it’s balance of flavors: hot & spicy, sour,...

Seriously, you can’t beat it…you can get all of the local foods (and non-local stuff too) on your shopping list AND you avoid a time consuming trip to multiple stores! Caffeine & Bananas
I was just cleaning out my Google Reader and attempting to read through the items that I was most interested in. Given the thousands of unread items, it was a bit of a challenge! I try to set weekly goals for myself and this week I plan to read the things that are in my reader DAILY! If you read lots of blogs and don’t have a reader, it makes following them all much simpler- I would...
